Whitaker Movie Night

The Whitaker community spirit, the smell of tamales and tacos, and the slight chill of fall were all in the air at Whitaker’s movie night on Friday, October 5th. Under a beautiful sunset, Whitaker families arrived with their chairs and blankets to fill the school’s quad. Families and staff enjoyed making connections with old and new friends, as the sun slowly set. At dusk, children and adults bundled up in blankets and sweaters, and enjoyed an outdoor viewing of Hotel Transylvania 2. It was so great to see the Whitaker community come together outside of school hours! We look forward to seeing you at our next event, Trunk or Treat, on October 26th!

Whitaker's New Trees

Our kindergarten playground has new trees! Thanks to our awesome grounds crew who planted two new trees in our kindergarten/TK playground. These trees will provide shade and natural beauty for years to come. When our current kindergartners reach sixth grade, they will be able to look back and be able to say that those beautiful trees were planted when they first started school!

Whitaker Students Sail the High Seas!

Raising the sails, pulling ropes, setting a course downwind... not things most fifth and sixth graders get to experience on a school day. A group of Whitaker's upper graders were fortunate enough to be invited by Orange County GRIP to the Dana Point Tall Ships Festival in Dana Point, California. Students were transported back in time as they boarded a tall ship modeled after those that sailed hundreds of years ago. Not only were the students passengers, they even became crew members! After students raised the sails and tied off the lines, the giant ship sailed swiftly and silently along the coast of Dana Point. The peaceful sailing was only interrupted by the sound of cannon fire from our ship, followed by cheers from students, as the ships reenacted sea battles, firing mock cannons from the sides of the ships. The weather was exceptional, the wind was just right, and the students of Whitaker experienced a day of sailing they will never forget!
